Reilly LePage’s Career Story

Director of Sales & Marketing – Logel Homes

This series features the professional journeys of a wide range of individuals across Canada’s real estate development industry. Often, these stories highlight how rewarding careers in real estate development are the result of following your interests, fostering personal and professional networks, and keeping an open mind about what a career in real estate development might be.

Meet Reilly LePage – Director of Sales & Marketing – Logel Homes.

How did you get started in your career?

I started working as a Sales Assistant for Logel Homes in 2010 while I was working on my Bachelor of Commerce degree from the University of Calgary. It started out as a part-time job, as the hours worked great with school, and it ended up feeling like an unofficial co-op program, being very relevant to my education at the time. And I never left!

What was your first job, and what did you learn from it?

I had two – I worked at a grocery store in the small Saskatchewan lake community I grew up in and the owners gave me a foundation for customer service and engaging with people that I still cherish to this day. I also worked in the summers with my dad building spec homes, where I cleaned up work sites and learned finishing construction skills. So technically, my first foray into homebuilding was at the age of 11. He instilled in me the importance of quality in my work: “If you’re going to do something, do it right.”

What inspired you to pursue this career path?

In my early twenties, I thought the industry was incredibly exciting, and I still do. Real estate, and specifically homebuilding, has so many variables, which I knew would keep me engaged for a long time, fueling my passion for learning. It’s an industry where you have a great amount of autonomy in achieving your goals and being a part of building something from a company growth perspective—you can undoubtedly contribute. In homebuilding, no two days are the same, so that covered the first point. When I saw the career trajectory of my mentors, it really felt like the sky was the limit for a young, optimistic person just starting out.

Tell us about your biggest influence or mentor in your career.

There are three. First, my aunt, Judy Lavelle, who was a top salesperson in the new home industry. She taught me how to be a sales and customer experience expert and the value of hard work. She instilled in me a drive that I’ve never been able to turn off. Then, Tim and Brayden Logel—our Chairman & CEO and President. They came up through a similar career trajectory, and they’ve given me many opportunities, guiding me along the way. They’ve taught me how to see the bigger picture, become a better leader, and continuously improve.

Tell us about a project or achievement you are most proud of.

I’m proud of the whole wild ride that has been Real Estate and Homebuilding with Logel Homes. It’s been rewarding to be a part of launching a new brand, helping build it to what it is today, gaining brand recognition, and seeing the success of our team and knowing that I contributed. Reaching the milestones we have as one of the most award-winning builders in the province and becoming one of the largest multi-family developers in the region has been a privilege. Our team is what really brings it home for me. Many of us have worked together for over a decade, and those people are a big reason why I enjoy what I do.

Do you belong to any associations or industry groups?

I serve on the BILD Calgary Awards committee and in the past have helped out on the Marketing Communications committee. I’ve also volunteered with the Ronald McDonald House and recently organized and rallied our team for the Discovery House and Brenda Strafford Foundation Night Light Walk in October.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the field?

My mentor always told me to let my work speak for itself. I would add that having a desire to continuously learn and improve yourself for the betterment of your team and organization are critical goals.
