Asset Management: Aman Bhatti’s Career Story

This series features the professional journeys of a wide range of professionals across Canada’s real estate development industry. Often, these stories highlight how rewarding careers in real estate development are the result of following your interests, fostering personal and professional networks, and keeping an open mind about what a career in real estate development might be.

Meet Aman Bhatti, Director, Asset Management, Colliers Canada.

What was your post-secondary education path?

I graduated from University with a Bachelor of Management degree with majors in Finance and Marketing. When I started post-secondary school, like many students, I was unsure of what my career path would look like.

How did you discover that Real Estate was an option?

I was introduced to commercial real estate through a part time job in my last year of school and I began to consider it as a possible career option. Less than a year after finishing school, I joined Oxford Properties as a Property Administrator within their Retail group.

How did your career progress?

I spent the first ten years of my career working in enclosed shopping centres in a couple of different roles and organizations within the Property Management and Corporate Finance departments. As my career progressed, I ventured into the Asset Management space. I joined Triovest as an Assistant Asset Manager where I supported portfolios of institution owned office and industrial assets in Alberta and Saskatchewan. A few years later, I earned the opportunity to manage a portfolio of assets and was promoted to Asset Manager.

I am currently with Colliers as Director, Asset Management. In this role I work closely with Leasing brokers, Property Management teams, and the client to strategize and create value for their assets.
