Chantelle Nichol’s Career Story

Leasing Manager – Alberta Health Services

This series features the professional journeys of a wide range of individuals across Canada’s real estate development industry. Often, these stories highlight how rewarding careers in real estate development are the result of following your interests, fostering personal and professional networks, and keeping an open mind about what a career in real estate development might be.

Meet Chantelle Nichol – Leasing Manager – Alberta Health Services.

What role has professional development had in your career?

I’ve recently completed REDI’s Real Estate Development Leadership Certificate that was run through the Haskayne School of Business at the University of Calgary. This was an excellent opportunity for me to stay up to date on industry trends, learn from experts in their fields, and network with colleagues from all sectors of the industry.

How did your interest in real estate begin?

Looking back, I’ve always been interested in cities, buildings, and spaces of all kinds, but I didn’t intend to seek a career in this industry. Like so many of my colleagues, I didn’t pursue Real Estate – it found me. I accepted a temp role in commercial leasing and quickly discovered that I really enjoyed the process of site selection, negotiation, and the collaboration required to make a project come to fruition.

Tell us about your current role!

I am a Leasing Manager for Alberta Health Services. This role has me involved in the negotiation and management of all sorts of leases as both a landlord and tenant within office, industrial, retail, and residential spaces. I’m a member of CREW Calgary and, as part of this, I’m thrilled to be part of the volunteer team launching the inaugural CREW Calgary university outreach (UCREW) program in 2025!
