Shannon Morgan’s Career Story

Marketing Manager, Multi-Family – ONE Properties

This series features the professional journeys of a wide range of individuals across Canada’s real estate development industry. Often, these stories highlight how rewarding careers in real estate development are the result of following your interests, fostering personal and professional networks, and keeping an open mind about what a career in real estate development might be.

Meet Shannon Morgan – Marketing Manager, Multi-Family – ONE Properties.

How did you get started in your career?

After leaving fashion school in Toronto, I packed up and headed to Whistler, looking for a sabbatical. Shortly after settling in, I took a role as Sales and Marketing Manager with one of Whistler’s top-performing Realtors. As a dynamic team of two, we accomplished over $100 million in real estate sales in just over four years. During this time, I earned my BC Real Estate license, and from that moment, I was hooked.

What inspired you to pursue this career path?

Real estate captured my heart from the start. I’m passionate about homes, interior design, and the magic of helping people fall in love with where they live and work. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about being part of that journey.

Was there ever a moment you almost gave up or switched careers?

When I moved to Calgary, I continued working in real estate marketing, which remains a true passion of mine. At the same time, I maintained my license and sold real estate part-time. But I quickly realized that being a Realtor in Calgary wasn’t where my heart truly lay. I decided to shelve my license, freeing up time to collaborate with some incredible developers and contribute to the success of dozens of new communities across Western Canada. That decision allowed me to refocus on what I love most—marketing, building brands, and creating connections.

Who has been the biggest influence or mentor in your career?

Denise Brown, one of Whistler’s top Realtors and an inspiring businesswoman, played a significant role in shaping my career. She demonstrated that success and enjoyment can go hand in hand. Whether we were finalizing the occasional contract from a chairlift, or celebrating major deals with an après ski session, she taught me the importance of balancing hard work with life’s rewarding moments—all while achieving big wins.

What is one project or achievement you’re most proud of?

My current role at ONE Properties has been incredibly rewarding. I’ve had the opportunity to market their impressive portfolio of purpose-built rental communities, marking my first deep dive into property management after years of working with for-sale communities. Collaborating with our Property Management, Resident Experience, Service, and Asset teams has given me a front-row seat to what it takes to make buildings of this caliber thrive. Over the past three years, our team has accomplished some remarkable milestones: completing over 8,000 property tours, securing more than 1,800 new leases, and hosting hundreds of resident events.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the field?

Connect with people. Real estate is filled with talented and inspiring individuals, many of whom are eager to network and share knowledge. Don’t be afraid to explore different areas within the industry—residential, office spaces, retail centers, industrial complexes. The beauty of real estate lies in its diversity and constant evolution. There’s room for everyone to learn, grow, and contribute in meaningful ways.
