VP, Investments – Institutional Property Advisors: Jane Pascal’s Career Story

This series features the professional journeys of a wide range of professionals across Canada’s real estate development industry. Often, these stories highlight how rewarding careers in real estate development are the result of following your interests, fostering personal and professional networks, and keeping an open mind about what a career in real estate development might be.

Meet Jane Pascal – VP, Investments – Institutional Property Advisors.

How has education or professional development elevated your career?

Professional development has been instrumental in my career. CREW (Commercial Real Estate Women) Network and Edmonton CREW do a fantastic job of providing education opportunities for both personal and professional development. Last year I attended the CREW Emerging Leaders Retreat in Houston, Texas, and the seminars were insightful and inspiring. I also help to facilitate learning opportunities for other CREW members in my role as the Education Chair for Edmonton CREW..

How did your interest in real estate begin?

Like many in commercial real estate, I fell into the industry. I graduated from the University of Alberta with a Bachelor of Arts degree and was planning to pursue a Masters in Speech Language Pathology. The landscape of the heart of Edmonton was evolving around the time of my graduation and I felt compelled to be a part of it in somehow. That’s when I took the opportunity to learn about brokerage and give it a try. I started out as a multi-family marketing coordinator for the team I work with today and learned the ropes from there.

Tell us about your current role, including any associations you belong to and roles you may have in them

I am currently a Vice President of Investments for Institutional Property Advisors, a division of Marcus & Millichap. I facilitate the disposition and acquisition of multi-family property, hotel and land sales across British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. I am an active member of Edmonton CREW and sit on the Board of Directors as the Education Chair.
