Marketing a year ago looks different than it does today. Digital mediums continue to change, as do the demands of consumers and the realities of Canada’s real estate markets. This course is ideal for anyone looking to market a new real estate development or vastly improve their existing marketing program.

Course Details

Marketing is essential to the success of any real estate development project. Review the role that marketing plays at each step in the development process. Gain an understanding of changing real estate markets and learn how to: utilize market research information, develop, and manage a marketing program, create unique project identities, and undertake an effective advertising and communications program. Learn from case studies, active project examples, and industry guest speakers from across Canada.

Components

  • Expert industry insights from instructors and guest speakers throughout two days of in-person learning at the University of Calgary.
  • Informal and formal networking opportunities, in peer discussions and lunch break.
  • Current real-world projects, case studies, and lessons learned.
  • A site visit to experience the realities of development in practice!
  • A group assignment and presentation that applies your course learning.

Graded Assessments

  1. Gather market, site, and competitive research insights to inform decisions about product mix, pricing, market segmentation, and competitive differentiation.
  2. Identify different buyer groups and understand their motivations.
  3. Develop brand positioning and effective marketing messages.
  4. Use marketing methodologies, processes, tools, and tactics to create a real estate development marketing strategy.
  • Each course requires attendance and participation throughout the instructional days and experiential activities.
