A strong understanding of the planning process is essential to reduce your development timeline, maximize the potential of a site and, ensure regulatory approval. This course is ideal for land owners, developers, planners and municipal stakeholders to gain perspective into all sides of the planning process. The discussion in this course is always robust, as participants share diverse perspectives from both the public and private view points. Instructor Mark Seasons is a veteran planner and currently the director (and a professor) at the School of Planning at Waterloo University. With his professional experience as a planner across Canada, in Alberta and Ontario, as well as internationally in New Zealand, Mark takes learners through fundamental concepts that hold true regardless of jurisdiction, while giving nuanced, real-world application and strategy to effectively guide the planning process.

This course is designed to enhance the skills and knowledge acquired by senior leaders who are responsible for urban planning and land development. You examine the complex, inter-connected decision-making environment within which planners operate. You review the fundamentals of the land use and land development system with reference to the challenges and opportunities presented by a rapidly evolving planning environment. With this foundation in place, you also look at current best practices in urban planning and land development and consider the implications of change for those in leadership positions.

Once submitted, you'll be automatically redirected to the next step, where you can add the course to your cart and complete payment.
